Which small truck should I buy?

I live in northern Saskatchewan Canada so 4x4 is a must because of snow for 6 months of the year. Fuel economy is also important but not everything. I wont be pulling much if at all. Around a 2005 model would be good but if anyone has strong feelings for an older model by all means mention it. I am interested in the ford ranger/ mazda b, dodge dakota. I am weary of the ranger because of it's old platform. I am also weary of the dodge because of it's current economic state and lackluster reliability record. I can't afford a toyota too expensive. I don't like the look of the chev/gmc colo/canyon. Show me what you guys recommend!
