Name of a film that I once watched?

An old black gentleman telling his story on stage about going to prison. He had an abusive mother named Zelma who ran a gambling house and had a mexican boyfriend who used to beat them. He ended up serving a bunch of time and received a governors pardon. It was a very emotional presentation. The guy has great story telling skills.
