D-Day help?

I don't think that it really could have failed. All of Hitler's forces were on some island off the coast of France, because Churchill and FDR had sent messages to each other, knowing that they were being intercepted, saying that they were going to attack first on this little island. They even made fake tanks and stuff and started loading them onto boats. So like 90% of Hitler's forces weren't even anywhere near Normandy.
